Even though he’s probably the best wrestler in WWE today, many still recognise AJ Styles as “Mr TNA. The current WWE World Champion found most of his success in TNA and was with the company for over a decade. Despite some of Styles’ greatest achievements coming after his time on Impact Wrestling, it seems he still wants TNA to stay afloat.
Speaking to The Phoenix New Times, AJ was asked whether he’d like some of his old co-workers to come to WWE, if WWE bought TNA. He responded with the following:
“I don’t know. I think that I would love for them to be them and us to be us. Competition’s a good thing and to see some of my friends maybe losing their jobs, that’s never good. So I would love to see them continue to exist and do so.”
It’s been well documented that TNA is suffering huge financial problems, and with WWE taking an interest in taking over the company, it puts WWE stars who have previously worked in TNA in awkward positions. Stars like Styles, Samoa Joe and Booby Roode were some of TNA’s greatest wrestlers, so if TNA does go under, you’d expect they’d all feel emotional.
Hopefully TNA’s financial crisis is resolved soon, particularly since the company has huge potential and massive stars still signed with them. Let’s also hope that AJ Styles continues to be on top form on Smackdown Live, and has a lengthy WWE World Title reign.
So, what do you think of AJ Styles’ comments? What was your favourite moment of his in TNA?
