WWE announced that they would be returning to the Alamodome in San Antonio which would be the first time in 20 years for the 2017 Royal Rumble. The plan right now is to sell out the massive arena, but in doing so in 2017 they need a big draw to help them reach that feet, thus the WWE are now trying heavily to bring back The Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels out of retirement for one more match.
If that doesn’t sound amazing enough it was also at The Alamodome 20 years ago where WWE held the Royal Rumble where Shawn Michaels won the WWE Championship against Sycho Sid. As many of you know we broke we the story that revealed that Shawn has moved his family down to Orlando, where he’s currently down at the Performance Centre for WWE as as a trainer filling in. WWE are trying to lock Shawn on for more of a permanent gig but he’s quite happy just filling in for now.
We can now also reveal that the planned opponent for Shawn if he were to lace the boots up would be against The Phenomenal One AJ Styles. The match up would itself be a “Once In A Life Time” dream match seeing these two go at it and possibly for the WWE Championship. WWE currently plans on having AJ Styles be the World Champion til at least Royal Rumble if everything goes to plan, and a match against Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship in Texas, for the Royal Rumble would definitely help the WWE sell out The Alamodome.
The offer is on the table currently and it’s up to Shawn if he wants to take it, WWE might have to consider offering more money since Shawn has publicly stated he is happy being retired.
