Original Plans For Asuka At NXT Takeover: Toronto Revealed

As was announced last week, Asuka will defend her NXT Women’s title against Mickie James at Takeover: Toronto next month. This marks James’ return to WWE for the first time since 2010.

However various reports are stating that James may not have been the original plan to face the undefeated Japanese star.

According to Cageside Seats, WWE apparently had some plans in place with Trish Stratus to possibly work some matches this year and in 2017 but her pregnancy changed that.

If that is the case, then there is a big chance that this is why Mickie James was brought back to wrestle Asuka. For the moment, it looks like she’s only in for the one match but that could always change.

If it were to change and James’ stayed on for a longer period of time, she could do wonders for either main roster women’s divisions. Personally I feel she could be outstanding on Raw as a top heel contender to Sasha Banks title and establish The Boss as a huge star.

Are you excited to see Mickie James return to WWE, or are you a little bummed out that we don’t get to see Trish Stratus return?
