If I told you a year ago that a local jobber called James Ellsworth would be topping every WWE superstar in merchandise sales (as of October 22), then you’d think I’m mad. But that is actually what’s happening right now in WWE. So you’d think that WWE would want to sign this surprise gold mine, right? Well that doesn’t look to be the case.

According to All Wrestling News, Ellsworth is still on a pay per date deal, so he will be paid when he appears on WWE television. Ellsworth was apparently also told by WWE that they don’t know when they will need him next, which basically means they don’t know if they will even use him again.

This is sad news for fans of Ellsworth, especially since his recent stint on Smackdown has been so entertaining. James has recently had two matches with AJ Styles, winning both bouts against the WWE World champ. Even though he is only enhancement talent, it’s clear that he’s made a big mark on WWE and fans, so let’s hope we see him again.

Do you think WWE should permanently sign James Ellsworth? What’s your favourite Ellsworth moment?
