Last Tuesday on Smackdown Live fans got what they have been waiting months for. A Dolph Ziggler heel turn.

Ziggler faced off against The Lone Wolf Baron Corbin. After losing the match Corbin proceeded to attack Ziggler. Causing Kalisto to come to his Aid. After Corbin made his way backstage, Ziggler attacked Kalisto out of no where. Later he attacked Apollo Crews in the locker room. This was an incredible way to start 2017 for Dolph Ziggler. It made this writer reflect on 2016. Here are my picks for the best heel turns of 2016:

AJ Styles:

AJ Styles made his WWE Debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble. He started his run in WWE as a face. He continued on that run all through WrestleMania. But in May of 2016 he made his awaited heel turn alongside Anderson and Gallows. In my opinion AJ was a star as soon as he stepped into the WWE. But I didn’t see him as a babyface. AJ as a heel is much more entertaining and dynamic. He had successful babyface and Heel runs in TNA and NJPW. But again was always more fun to watch as a heel. I thoroughly enjoy watching AJ in his heel role and think it was one of the smartest moves WWE Creative made all year.

Chris Jericho:

Chris Jericho’s latest WWE run has been nothing short of spectacular. The man is running Monday Night Raw with his most entertaining gimmick yet. Turning Chris Jericho heel right before WrestleMania last year was a very smart move. It allowed him to have an A+ match against AJ Styles at the biggest show of the year. It allowed him to be one of the most entertaining superstars on the entire WWE main roster. His heel turn truly gave Monday night Raw The Gift of Jericho. Drink it in Mannnnnn.

This heel turn was great based on the fact that it saved this man’s career. The man that Gravity forgot truly was The man that the WWE Universe forgot. Him turning heel on Rich Swan and declaring himself “The King of the Cruiserweights” was the best thing to happen at Roadblock: End of the Line. He now has cemented his place in the WWE Cruiserweight division. Most likely getting his first title shot on January 29th at the Royal Rumble.

Who do you think had the best heel turn of 2016? Do you agree with my choices? Let me know in the comments!
