WrestleMania 33 got off to a huge start as AJ Styles avenged his debut from 2016 with a big win over Smackdown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon. It was a match of the night contender that saw a ton of back-and-forth action with the Phenomenal One walking out victorious.

McMahon, who is remembered for his death-defying leap off the top of the Hell in a Cell in his match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas, had control in the former half of the match. He even showed off some skill by reversing Styles’s springboard 450 splash into a Triangle Choke.

The referee got knocked down and that opened the door for Styles to introduce a trash can into the frey and it seemed everyone in attendance knew what was coming. However, McMahon had his opponent well-scouted and showed him how it was really done.

After McMahon missed a diving elbow into the announcer’s table, Styles hit his Phenomenal Forearm for the victory.

Will the rest of the WrestleMania 33 card be able to top this match?
