8. Jeff Hardy(c) vs. CM Punk in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2009
Jeff Hardy and CM Punk had arguably the feud of the year in 2009, pitting Hardy’s reckless and live for the moment attitude against Punk’s disciplined and straightedge lifestyle made for an excellent program that dominated the SmackDown main event scene that year. After trading championship victories and great matches in the preceding months, these two bitter rivals went head on in the main event of SummerSlam for the World Heavyweight Championship. Vicious chair shots, ladder suplexes, and Swanton Bombs through a table, are just a fraction of the incredible action that took place during that match, as the turmoil and pain these men went through absolutely deserved the spotlight at The Biggest Party of the Summer. The Rainbow-Haired Warrior unfortunately suffered a devastating loss, as The Straight Edge Superstar was the one who walked away with the championship that night, but without a doubt, Jeff Hardy gave all he had in what would be his final WWE pay-per view match for nearly 8 years.
9. Matt Hardy(c) vs. Evan Bourne for the ECW Championship at Cyber Sunday 2008
Cyber Sunday was an interesting concept for a pay-per view, the fans would vote on match stipulations, opponents, special referees, or even gimmicks they wanted to see at the event. At the 2008 edition, fans voted for Evan Bourne, over Finlay and Mark Henry, to face ECW Champion Matt Hardy in what would turn out to be a stellar match between two of the ECW brand’s finest competitors. Bourne utilized his innovative high-flying style, while Hardy countered with his technical prowess, making for a delightful back and forth clash with some really cool moments. After Bourne missed the Shooting Star Press, Hardy nailed him with a Twist of Fate, picking up the victory and continuing his wonderful reign as ECW Champion.
10. Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy in an Extreme Rules match at WrestleMania 25
From wrestling in their backyard on a trampoline to wrestling in front of 72,000 people at WrestleMania 25, Matt and Jeff Hardy accomplished their childhood dream of going toe-to-toe with one another on The Grandest Stage of Them All. While the build-up the match was a bit questionable, with Matt Hardy apparently being responsible for his brother’s house burning down and the death of his dog, as well as costing Jeff his WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble, the match more than delivered and allowed the brothers a chance to take it to the extreme at WrestleMania. From Jeff hitting a diving splash on Matt while sandwiched between two tables, to Matt countering Whisper in the Wind with a chair shot, to Jeff missing the leapfrog off a 20-foot ladder, to Matt placing Jeff’s head in a steel chair and hitting him with a Twist of Fate, this match was absolutely wonderful and arguably one of the most underrated matches in WrestleMania history.
