WWE Payback is just two weeks away and it is already shaping up to be a wild night with four matches, two of which are now cross-branded, already slated to happen. Here are four other matches that should be booked over the last four shows before the first pay-per-view since WrestleMania.
Cruiserweight Championship: Neville (c) vs Austin Aries
This match already seems to be pretty much happening after Aries won the right to face Neville last week on 205 Live. I just hope it does not get shoved to the Kickoff show again. These two stole the show at WrestleMania and would have been one of the better matches on the main card.
This feud has been expertly done and has shown the WWE Universe what both the Greatest Man That Ever Lived and the King of the Cruiserweights are capable. Both men have proven that you don’t just have to be a high-flyer to put on five-star Cruiserweight matches.
This would be an awesome way to kick off the pay-per-view and get the crowd out of their seats before the show gets going good.
Raw Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs Nia Jax
Charlotte is gone from Raw and Bayley now needs another contender for her championship. It could be new superstar and former Smackdown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, but she seems busy with fellow draftee Mickie James.
Jax has been dominate over the last few weeks and even got a clean pinfall victory over the Queen in Flair’s final appearance on Raw. That did not happen very often during her run on the red brand and just shows how much WWE believes in the Anoa’i family member.
Bayley and Jax have had some classic matches in the past with their battle over the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Takeover: London being the most memorable. Having these meet up once again could be the perfect catalyst to launching the imminent Bayley/Sasha Banks match or shocking every one putting the strap on the 32-year-old monster.
The Revival vs Enzo Amore and Big Cass
We can only hope that The Revival does not have nothing to do on Raw now that New Day have made their way over to Smackdown Live. They have dominated the former Tag Team Champions the last two weeks and should be seeking new blood next week.
That is where you bring in Amore and Cass, who Dash and Dawson successfully defeated at WWE Roadblock last March. Of course, the former two-time NXT Tag Team Champions should win this match, but you could make both teams look strong in a great match of four NXT alumni.
The Top Guys are already looking like the team to beat on Raw and having them face off with the most popular tag team in the WWE right now would be best for business.
Seth Rollins vs Samoa Joe
To be honest, I was shocked that Rollins was able to put on the instant classic he did with Triple H at WrestleMania with the shape his knee has been in. The injury seems to be healing up pretty nicely and it certainly seems that he and the Destroyer are on a collision course in a few weeks.
This match could be built up over the course of a few months with The Architect giving some promos, but the story was written from the first night Joe showed up on Raw. This should be the first meeting between these two, but most certainly not the last.
