Last week on Smackdown Live, an unlikely trio seemed to join forces. Natalya, Tamina and Carmella all agreed that they haven’t been getting the opportunities they deserve on The Blue Brand. They were seen hanging around backstage together during that show. That leaves one question to be answered. Is a new Women’s Faction forming on Smackdown Live?
Natalya was the 2nd female draft pick to Smackdown Live during the brand split. Since the Draft, The Queen of Harts hasn’t become the head of the Division. That spot has belonged to Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss and Naomi. Nattie hasn’t had many opportunities to challenge for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. The only major feud she’s been in was with Nikki Bella at the end of 2016. The promos between the two of them were fire, but that passion wasn’t well translated in the ring. It’s safe to say that Natalya has yet again become Ms Irrelevant on Smackdown Live.
Carmella was the last female draft pick to The Blue Brand. And a surprising one at that. Many believed that The Princess of Staten Island was going to become the leader of the NXT Women’s division. Especially since NXT lost Bayley, Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax in the draft and the weeks that followed. Carmella could’ve become the NXT Women’s division and helped the young talent reach their true potential. But, instead she joined SDL. Since arriving she has been more impressive than most thought. She had a very entertaining rivalry with Nikki Bella in her first few months. But, since she joined up with James Ellsworth, she has just become very lackluster.
Tamina recently returned to the WWE two weeks ago during the Superstar Shake-Up. She was out of action for several months with a severe ligaments injury. The former Team B.A.D member would also be kept away from the ring when her father, Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, passed away in January. After nearly a year Tamina would return as part of The Blue Brand’s Women’s Division. She has yet to prove her worth in the young, fresh division. But, in time, she will make a grab at the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
All three of these Superstars have something to prove on SDL. And with the arrival of Charlotte, a former 4-time Raw Women’s Champion, the entire Women’s Division was put on notice. WWE Creative teased a possible “Teaming up” Of Carmella, Natalya and Tamina last week on Smackdown. All three of them agreed that Charlotte didn’t deserve a title match as soon as she arrived to The Blue Brand. That she shouldn’t get the opportunities that was stolen from them. It’s also best to assume that they will be teaming up on SDL because they have been working together on Smackdown Live Events.
This new possible Women’s faction has the potential to run Smackdown Live. Especially since someone has to take down The Queen of WWE Charlotte. We’re looking forward to seeing this new group develop further.
