Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose’s feud with The Miz has been one of the hottest things going in the WWE the last few months. Their feud came to a head at Sunday’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

When The Miz made his way over to Raw from Smackdown Live during the Superstar Shake-Up earlier this year, he thought he had rid himself of the Lunatic Fringe. However, Ambrose waltzed his way down to the ring after his bitter rivalry and they were at each other’s throats almost immediately.

The two have gone back and forth the last few months and it even saw Ambrose get himself intentionally disqualified to retain the championship three weeks ago on Raw. That prompted the A-Lister to demand a rematch where Ambrose would lose the title if he got disqualified.

Ambrose and the Miz went back and forth in what was a pretty impressive opening match to Extreme Rules. In the end, however, it was the challenger that got the pinfall and walked out a seven-time Intercontinental Champion, putting him just two reigns behind the record holder, Chris Jericho.

The ending was a little wonky with Maryse slapping her husband in hopes Ambrose would get disqualified. She got thrown out, but Miz was able to take advantage of Ambrose, who was arguing with referee John Cone and trying to convince him not to disqualify him.

One Skull-Crushing Finale later and the Miz was going back to Hollywood with the gold once again.
