NXT saw the return of Mauro Ranallo to a WWE Commentary Table, probably the best play by play commentator since Jim Ross, it’s great to hear his voice calling professional wrestling once again. WWE was main evented for the third night in a row by a women’s match, this time a historic first Last Women Standing Match in which Asuka retained her NXT Women’s Championship against Nikki Cross in a brutal match.

The Velveteen Dream is on display against Cruiserweight Classic competitor Hoho Lun. Another squash victory for the Velveteen Dream who continues to build momentum, it’s incredibly different and unique and that can only be a good thing. He’s incredibly young, only 21 years old so plenty of time to develop.

Asuka is shown in a car driving towards the building when Nikki Cross attacks the car, on the windshield going absolutely mental. This is exactly what Nikki Cross should be like.

William Regal announces in two weeks the Authors of Pain will defend the NXT Tag Team Titles against Heavy Machinery. The NXT Championship will also be defended next week when Bobby Roode defends against Roderick Strong.

Oney Lorcan is scheduled to take on Hideo Itami but immediately hits an uppercut that smashes Itami’s nose. The match is called off as I’m no doctor but Itami’s nose looks like it has to be broken. After an ad break Itami comes back out despite this injury still wanting to fight, Lorcan obliges and the match begins. Lorcan appears to injure his knee but refuses to stop the match, but only manages to get up straight into the GTS for the win. I’m enjoying this kind of in-between Itami. After the match, he asks for Kassius Ohno to come out and meet him in the ring. It looks like a meeting with al good intentions until Sanity (minus Eric Young) come to the ring and take them both out.

For the third night in a row WWE Programming was Main Evented by a Women’s Match. Asuka retained her NXT Women’s Championship in a historic Last Women Standing Match that was more brutal than I think any of us could have expected. These two women held nothing back and it was incredible to watch. They went all out using Steel Chairs, a Trash Can, he Announce Table, The Title Belt, a Ladder, and much more. Asuka retained just beating the count after suplexing Cross from the top of a ladder through the announce table. Incredible match.
