Debuting in August 2016 on the WWE Network, Talking Smack gave WWE superstars a forum to expand their characters beyond the ring. The unscripted panel program became acclaimed by fans for its unique format.
News broke during the week, that Talking Smack had been canceled by WWE and would only be airing after PPV’S as of now, Renee young who was the host of Talking Smack did not know that the show had been canceled and only found when a fan tweeted her about it. on the 14th of July Young tweeted the following “Really disappointed about
#TalkingSmack. We tried to make that show great. Guess I’ll go back to welcoming my guest at this time.” Along with young Regular co-host of the show Former WWE Champion and Current Smackdown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan also tweeted the Following “come online to support #SamiForSyria and find this out. I’m the GM!!! Nobody tells me anything!!!” going by these Tweets it seems as if neither young or Bryan knew anything about the show being canceled and found out along with the fans.
According to Sports Illustrated Vince McMahon was very unhappy with the show and thought that if did not have the best interests of the company at heart. It is also believed that McMahon did not like the unscripted nature of the show and this was the reason for the cancellation, over the next few months McMahon plans to cancel Talking Smack completely.
I personally believe canceling Talking Smack is a bad decision, as the show allowed wrestlers to express themselves in an unscripted manner and allowed them to be themselves, how many people remember the amazing feud Daniel Bryan and The Miz had on the show which made in interesting and exciting to watch, Talking Smack gave us an inside look to what the wrestlers really thought and how they felt. I also feel Talking Smack gave Renee Young a chance to shine and show WWE and the WWE Universe that she can be more than just a backstage announcer. While yes it isn’t totally gone only having it after PPV’s just won’t be the same, I feel I can speak for pretty much everyone when I say that Talking smack will be very much missed by all.
