When WWE announced their draft nearly a year ago, it was suspected that they would bring back some older veteran superstars to fill some slots on both Raw and Smackdown Live. Now, it seems one of the biggest names could be making his way back to the company.
According to Sports Illustrated, Rey Mysterio is currently listening to offers from both WWE and Global Force Wrestling, who recently acquired Impact Wrestling and became one cohesive unit. Mysterio is still under contract with Lucha Underground through the end of Season 3, which is set to air in September.
Mysterio left WWE in April 2014, making his final appearance the Raw after Wrestlemania XXX. He took time off to deal with injuries, but he never returned and his contract expired 10 months later.
Over the last two years, Mysterio has spent time in AAA and other independent companies. He made his debut with Lucha Underground last January and is a former Trios Champion with Prince Puma and Dragon Azteca Jr.
Throughout his career with WWE, Mysterio is former three-time World Champion, three-time Cruiserweight Champion and four-time Tag Team Champion. His experience would certainly help boost WWE and would give them a big Latino star once again.
As for GFW, it seems they want to move away from Alberto El Patron, who is their current World Champion. He has been very outspoken both inside and outside the ring.
It will certainly be interesting to see what Mysterio decides to do and it is very possible we could see him back in the WWE come 2018.
