The Smackdown Live Women’s Championship picture has certainly been a confusing one the last few months. At Battleground, however, the picture cleared up as Natalya sealed her number one contender’s spot for Naomi’s title at Summerslam.

The Fatal Five-Way Elimination match seemed to be all over the place, but Natalya was able to pull out the win by last eliminating Charlotte Flair with the champion looking on from commentary. The new Summerslam opponents had a pretty intense stare down after the match.

Becky Lynch drew first blood in the match when she broke up the tandem of Tamina and Lana, who teamed up early on and seemed to dominate, with a pair of Disarmers.

However, the Lasskicker was not able to celebrate her two eliminations as Natalya slide in and took out Lynch. It looked like Flair was going to end the match in a quick string of eliminations, but the fight was on between the two second-generation stars.

Natalya and Flair battled in the ring and it looked like the latter would pull out the win with a moonsault. The Hart family member, however, showed her ring awareness and got her knees up.

This allowed her to get the cover and become the number one contender for the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship for the first time. Naomi tried to extend the olive branch and shake Natalya’s hand, but her challenger was having none of it.

This match should be a great one between one of the most underrated female wrestlers in the world in Naomi and one with an illustrious history of professional wrestling in Natalya.
