NXT this week saw Hideo Itami take on Kassius Ohno in the main event and Drew McIntyre delivered a brilliant, intense and passionate promo on his NXT Championship opportunity against Bobby Roode. Also in action were Ember Moon & The Velveteen Dream.

The opening match saw Ember Moon take on Lei’d Tapa. Tapa got off to a really hot start showing some dominance but Ember Moon quickly turned the tables and picked up the win with the Eclipse. After the match Moon called out Asuka for a match at Takeover Brooklyn.

David Ramos & Timothy Bumpers were set to take on the NXT Tag Team Champions The Authors of Pain, but Sanity quickly jumped Ramos & Bumpers allowing the two monster teams to brawl it out. A nice brawl to set up their inevitable match at Takeover Brooklyn, with the champions standing tall to end the segment.

The Velveteen Dream continued his great form defeated the Brazilian Cezar Bononi. Another good momentum building win for The Velveteen Dream; hopefully WWE has something big in mind for him, he’s incredibly unique and WWE should capitalise on that.

William Regal officially announces that Asuka will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Ember Moon at NXT Takeover Brooklyn III. Asuka is also scheduled to return to NXT next week. Also, next week we will see Johnny Gargano return to in ring action against Raul Mendoza & we will hear from NXT Champion Bobby Roode.

Drew McIntyre gave perhaps the best promo of his career on Bobby Roode and his NXT Championship match at NXT Takeover Brooklyn. McIntyre was intense and passionate, saying that he is the hardest worker in the world and how much he has changed since his first Chosen One run. Absolutely wonderful promo from McIntyre, this did a lot to build the main event of Brooklyn.

The Main Event was a match between Hideo Itami and Kassius Ohno which ended in disqualification when Itami hit Ohno with a low blow. After a pretty good match, Itami went low on Ohno and preceded to beat Ohno down, hitting him with two GTS, and leaving him laid out after dropping him onto the steel steps. This feud is progressing very well and while this was a good match, the two are definitely capable of more together; perhaps they are holding back for a potential match at NXT Takeover Brooklyn. Great heel work here by Itami, a very good main event to the show.
