The Raw tag team scene is looking pretty good at the moment, with a few teams really shining.
The Hardy Boyz and The Revival are in the middle of a heated rivalry, where the former are slowly moving into their #BROKEN personas. The Club are settling into a nice supporting role and are showing some signs of a babyface run. The champs, Sheamus and Cesaro, are putting on consistently strong performances.
But one team that isn’t even an official team are likely to be the next tag title contenders. As many have speculated recently, former Shield partners Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins are set to face the champions at Summerslam on August 20.
The seeds were planted for said match on this week’s Raw, when we saw Seth Rollins defeat Sheamus in singles competition. Following the match, the tag champs beat down The Architect until Ambrose made the save. He was subsequently beat down himself.
This move is one that will bring more attention to the tag division, which is by no means a bad thing. It makes the titles seem more important when two former World champions are fighting for them.
To add to that match, Cageside Seats is reporting that The Hardy’s vs The Revival will also be on the Summerslam card. This match is likely to have a No.1 Contender stipulation, with the winner to face the champions at No Mercy in September.
Putting stakes into non-title feuds is always a great way to make fans more invested. The Hardy’s are already wildly popular, and fans are clamouring to see their alter-egos. The Revival are settling perfectly into the role on the main roster following Dash Wilder’s jaw injury earlier this year.
The tag team title scene on Monday nights is certainly heating up, and looks to be in a good position going in to and coming out of WWE’s second biggest show of the year.
Are you enjoying Sheamus and Cesaro’s championship run? Who are the team you want to see challenge them next?
