It’s no secret that Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon don’t see eye-to-eye on Smackdown, and rumours have been circling about a potential match between the two.

The Commissioner and the former US Champ have crossed paths on multiple occassions recently, and Owens is becoming disgruntled with so-called ‘unfair treatment’.

We saw the two go back-and-forth tonight on Smackdown Live in a segment which ended with AJ Styles inadvertently kicking Shane in the head. Owens retreated and was shown laughing at the unfortunate moment for Shane O’Mac.

Many believed that a match between the two was going to take place at Summerslam, but they instead went the route of having Shane McMahon act as a special guest referee for Owens match with AJ Styles for the US Title.

The idea now, according to the Wrestling Observer, is perhaps to run a ‘Team Kevin Owens’ vs ‘Team Shane McMahon’ match at Survivor Series later this year. This is a fresh idea and would create an interesting divide on the Smackdown roster.

While the match is merely an idea being discussed right now, and the Survivor Series event is still a few months away, I thought I’d have a crack at predicting the line-up for each team.

Team Kevin Owens

  • Kevin Owens (c)
  • Jinder Mahal (probably going to lose the WWE Title and can show disappointment if he moves down the card following this)
  • Rusev (has had issues, at least over Twitter, with McMahon and his position on SD Live)
  • Jimmy Uso
  • Jey Uso

Team Shane McMahon

  • Shane McMahon (c)
  • Sami Zayn (cmon, you’d think we’d exclude Sami from a match involving KO?)
  • Randy Orton (interesting pick given the history of himself and the captain but they can show The Viper’s growth in respect for Shane)
  • Tyler Breeze
  • Fandango

The reason you might not see some of the names you’d expect such as AJ Styles or Baron Corbin or Shinsuke Nakamura is solely because you need guys for championship matches, and I’m of the belief that AJ will hold the US Title for an extended run.

As for the WWE Title, it is probably going to be with Nakamura or Corbin by November, so look for them to be excluded from any of the possible 5-on-5 traditional Survivor Series matches.

Would you be interested in seeing Team McMahon vs Team Owens take place at Survivor Series? Who would you like to see line up for each team?
