On today’s edition of NXT, we kicked off with the second annual Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The main event of the show pitted tag champions The Revival against the newly formed team of Cedric Alexander and Andrade Cien Almas.

After a strong back and forth match, Alexander was pinned via the Shatter Machine. After the match, Almas beat the ever living piss out of his partner for losing the match and thus came his expected heel turn.

Despite the fact it was always going to happen as Almas had recently been working heel on the house show circuit, it was well executed and got a lot of heat on the former CMLL standout.

This will likely lead to a barnburner of a match down the line, perhaps at NXT Takeover: Toronto, and give both men the opportunity to have a singles mid card feud. It will give a chance for both men to flesh out some promos and work a proper feud, as there is plenty of time until the event takes place.

With so many NXT stars recently being called up to the main roster, this turn has created a new heel and gotten a lot of sympathy for a babyface on the rise in Cedric Alexander.
