Ring of Honor this week saw The American Nightmare Cody defend his World Championship against The Heavy Metal Rebel Frankie Kazarian in Cody’s hometown. Also in action were War Machine as well as Flip Gordon.
War Machine defeat Coast to Coast & The Tempura Boyz. Grade: B. The IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions picked up a win against two of the most exciting young teams in Ring of Honor. A nice fun opening match with the chaos that comes with a tornado triple threat tag team match. For some incredibly big guys War Machine are unbelievably agile. After the match War Machine cut a promo saying that a year on after being screwed out of the Ring of Honor Tag Team Titles they want another shot, and that the fans won’t like what they’re doing, but that doesn’t matter. War Machine against the Motor City Machine Guns would make for a great match considering War Machine’s size and agility against the high flying MCMG.
Flip Gordon defeats Corey Hollis. Grade: C+ Before the match a nice little video package for Flip Gordon was shown; they are really playing him up as the next big thing in Ring of Honor. They match was far more competitive than expected given the video package beforehand, but both men were impressive in the match.
Ian Riccaboni gave an update on Women of Honor and the stories and feuds at the moment; if you’re not watching Women of Honor you’re definitely missing out.
Cody defeats Frankie Kazarian to retain the Ring of Honor World Championship. Grade: B. Frankie Kazarian earned this opportunity last week winning the Honor Rumble. In Cody’s hometown, the match was filled with interference from Christopher Daniels before Marty Scurll came out and negated Daniels impact. Another nice title defence for Cody who continues his more than impressive reign as champion.
