We’ve learnt over the past couple of days, that any plans to have former Universal Champion Finn Balor face Brock Lesnar at next year’s Royal Rumble have been scrapped, with Balor not being ‘over’ enough in the eyes of Vince McMahon, which leaves us guessing with who could replace him as the challenger.
It’s now being reported that WWE have two men in mind who could possibly step up to the plate and challenge the beast, who has been Universal Champion since defeating Goldberg at WrestleMania 33.
Those two men are John Cena and Seth Rollins. Both men currently in a busy schedule, John Cena is filming his new movie, and Seth Rollins is caught up in the newest Shield reunion angle. Both men do have history with Lesnar, and all three men have actually been in the same match before. Back at the 2015 Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar defended his WWE Championship against both John Cena and Seth Rollins in which was one of the greatest triple threat matches to memory.
It will be interesting to see who WWE choose to have step up to the plate of the Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar.
