NXT saw Andrade Cien Almas battle Roderick Strong in a great main event in which Zelina Vega played a huge role, Velveteen Dream & Aleister Black continued their amazing feud and the final place in the Women’s Fatal Four Way for the NXT Women’s Champion was on the line in a huge Battle Royal.
Tino Sabbatelli & Riddick Moss defeated Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch. Grade: C. I like the tag team of Burch & Lorcan after their series of matches and I like that they got off to a loss here, with the story being that they need to work on this team; so often we see success come instantly for new tag teams. Sabbatelli & Moss are a long way behind the top of NXT.
Nikki Cross wins the Battle Royal for the final spot in the Fatal Four Way for the NXT Women’s Championship. Grade: B- Naturally this match was all over the place at times but still was very entertaining and had its moments. Billie Kay holding onto Bianca Blair’s hair saving her from being eliminated was incredible and the way Blair whips her opponents with her hair looks and sounds like the most brutal thing ever. Nikki Cross winning I obviously the right move and now the next NXT Women’s Champion will either be Nikki Cross, Peyton Royce, Ember Moon or Kairi Sane.
Next week the Authors of Pain get their rematch for the NXT Tag Team Championships against Sanity.
Aleister Black came to the ring but was attacked by Velveteen Dream. Grade: A- The way Velveteen Dream popped up behind Black during his entrance was amazing; tying him in the roes and slapping Black screaming “say my Name!” before Black laid in the kicks and just missed the Black Mass. This feud may be the best feud in WWE right now! A great babyface, a great heel, great contrast between the two, and I cannot wait to see Black finally get his hands on Velveteen Dream.
Andrade Cien Almas defeated Roderick Strong. Grade: B- This match was good enough for a television main event but left a lot in the tank for another potential meeting between the two. Zelina Vega stole the show with a hurricanrana to Roderick Strong sending him into the steel stairs allowing Almas to get the win. This does well to add another layer of depth to Vega’s character and protects Strong moving forward. After the match there was another very interesting interaction between Undisputed Era and Roderick Strong with the trio trying to convince Strong to join them, with Strong accepting the wristband to end the show. This alone is enough get you to tune in next week! Brilliant stuff.
