Another huge episode of Ring of Honor this week saw two championship matches with Cody defending his Ring of Honor World Championship and War Machine challenging Motor City Machine Guns for the ROH Tag Team Titles.
The Kingdom defeated The Dawgs & Coast to Coast in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match. Grade: C+ A good win for The Kingdom giving them momentum over two lower-card tag teams. With Matt Taven on commentary as well as a post-match promo, The Kingdom pushed hard the idea that there is a conspiracy against them. They made the point that they never got their rematch for the 6-man Tag Titles and that they defeated Search & Destroy with MCMG now the ROH Tag Team Champions.
Flip Gordon cut a backstage promo saying that he may need to find some friends who like him have nothing to lose in order to combat the Bullet Club who have been causing him some trouble as of late.
Cody defended the Ring of Honor World Championship defeating Ryan Nova. Grade: B+ While Cody defending against guys nowhere close to on his level must be getting a little old now, the way he does it and his promo before was great. What was even better was after the match when Dalton Castle appeared. Cody said that he’ll call Paul and get Dalton Castle a Developmental Contract just like all of Dalton’s friends, clearly alluding to NXT, Triple H & The Undisputed Era. This was Cody at his best on the microphone. Castle attacked Cody making it clear he is coming for the World Championship at what will ultimately cumulate at Final Battle.
As Mark Briscoe suffered an elbow injury he could not compete for the ROH Television Title, however he cut a backstage promo saying he is coming back and coming for the TV Title. His brother Jay confronted him calling him out for going for a singles title instead of focusing on the Briscoe Brothers Tag Team.
Motor City Machine Guns defended the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championship defeating War Machine. Grade: A- How good are War Machine at this wrestling thing! Men the size of Hanson & Rowe should not be able to do the things that these two do, their athleticism and agility for huge men is beyond incredible. These two teams put on a great match that had the fully completely invested before The Addiction came out and again ruined everything that ROH fans enjoy. They sprayed silly string before War Machine took them out, allowing MCMG to get the quick rollup and steal the win. Great match, The Addiction are killing it as heels, while a dodgy finish there is nothing to complain about here.
